The Chicago Series is based on black and white photographs that I took in 1969 in Chicago’s Loop area. This painting felt exactly right from the moment I picked up a brush. Again, I think that Hopper was working extra hard on my psyche as I knocked out these paintings one after another through the winter of 2008.
